The labouring men in the penal days used to make some of these old roads were made for four pence and sixpence a day.
There is an old path from Clonbarn to Boyerstown, and it was a mass path in olden times, there is also another one from Tullaghanstown to Dunderry, and one from Churchtown to Dunderry, and another from Ongenstown to Boyerstown.
There is a cross in Boyerstown as a mark showing where a man had been killed - HIs name was Barbout from Athboy. He was Killed about 40 years ago by a hackney car overturning- Collector
