A sad and dismal story I mean to let you know
Its not of love or murder but I have yous to beware of driving late for thats the way.
We lost the old Grey Mare.

We passed that day on duty and acted well our part
To barrack we were coming home with light and joyal heart.
We drank we sang we laughed and joked like men of divide care.
We little thought how soon we would lose our trusty old Grey Mare.
