  1. Some years ago it was customary with the people of this locality to go for a "ceilidhe" to a neighbouring house. It is with such a night that my story is connected.
    One night some thirty years ago a man was going home from a house in Ankerland. His name was James Cahill. He lived in Cummerstown which is not far from Ankerland.
    He left the "ceilidhe" house at ten o'clock. It was a dark night and his way led him across the "Cummerstown" fields. Many
