- Fairy Forts.
Once there was a rich woman living beside a fort. She had six children. One day an old hag came up to the house & knocked at the door. The woman of the house went out and said "I can't help you." Then the poor woman said "Can you give me a dish of meal as my children are dying with fever", & the woman turned to go and then she said "You'll have bad news next day" that I shall see you. The next day two of the little boys were playing at a river when one fell in & the other fell in after him trying to save them. Another day two of the little girls were playing round the fort and a little door opened and the old woman took in the two little girls and they were never seen again.
