  1. This is a true story. Mary Leonard of Sheepstown Delvin was working in Clonmellon. One night at about 8 oclock she had to go out to get some coal. When she went out to where the coal was she heard strange crying & she thought it was some children. She went in & told the priest (She worked in his house) The priest went out & when he heard the crying, he said "That's the banshee" Then they went in & no sooner were they in than a wire came to say that the priests mother was dead. The people said the banshee came to warn him about his mother.
