    sucking pigs in the annual fair, 15th Aug. and it seems the garsuns of the place cut off the tail of one. The incident had its sequel in the Court where the boys were convicted and sent to Spike Island. This is the first verse of the song

    On the kings highway lived two old maids
    Named Paul and Nancy Hogan

    Nancy bought a sucking pig
    'Twas triving like a wonder
    Paul bought another pig and you wouldnt know them asunder.

    Till the blackguards coming home from school
    Saw the pigs out feeding
    And they cut the tail of Nancys pig
    And sent it home all bleeding
