  1. Years ago two old maids lived in Ballinderry. Both bought a pig each. School boys cut off the tail of one of the pigs and a song was composed about it of which the first verse was -
    "In Ballinderry in my young days,
    Befire I went a roving,
    On the Kings highway
    Lived two old maids
    Named Poll and Nancy Hogan.
    Nancy bought a sucking pig
    'Twas thriving like a wonder.
    Poll Hogan bought another pig
    And you wouldn't know them
    Till the blackguards coming home from school asunder
