The brown cake is made from a mixture of flour and whole-meal wet with buttermilk. A little salt and breadsoda are added and the cake is baked in a pot-oven with fire under the oven and on the lid.
The white cake is made from flour, salt, and breadsoda wet with buttermilk and baked in a pot-oven.Pancakes are made by putting flour, sugar, salt, soda and sometimes an egg into a bowl and mixing with buttermilk or newmilk into a thin batter.
This is left for a while in the bowl. Some fat-butter dripping or lard is put on a pan which is heated well.
