- There are many fairy forts in my district. There is one in Ballgarret and two in Killpatrick. All the forts are within sight of each other. They are all circular in shape. There is a fence round the one in Killpatrick and there is a stone wall round each of the two in Ballgarret. There is an entrance to the one in Killpatrick but there is no entrance to the forts in Ballgarret. A man went into the fort in Killpatrick once but he did not hear or see or find anything.
They say that long ago when the first tribe of people came to Ireland they had to build big fences round their dwelling places to protect themselves from wild beasts. Long ago fairy people were supposed to live in those forts.
