    had no name. A five shilling piece was called a crown and this coin is seldom seen now. There was also a coin worth four shillings and it is gone out of use now.

  2. My grandmother taught me this old prayer. She was taught it by her mother when she was a child. It is to be said before going to sleep.
    "As here I lie on my bed to sleep
    To God I give my soul to keep,
    If any evil troubles me
    O Blessed Virgin waken me."
