- I live in the townland of Balrath, in the barony of Moyliscar and in the parish of Walshestown. There are only three families in Balrath all of different names. They are all farmers and live in big thatched houses. There is one old bachelor in one house and a married pair who have no children in another and five of us going to school from our house. The place is supposed to get its name from all the forts that are around it. The people dont know Irish and any stories they tell are not worth listening to. There was an old man named Arthur Gaynor who was a great story teller but he used to exaggerate(continues on next page)
