An old woman from Crosshea Edgeworthstown had a habit of calling to certain houses on May Day. In each case the butter was gone. The man of the house in one case threw a stone at the first animal. he saw around on that day it was a hare. He struck the hare on the forehead: The old woman next appeared with a patch on her forehead.
