It is a custom in our district, for a person to take the churn dash for a few minutes when they enter the house if there is churning going on.

It is a custom in our district for a person to take the churn dash for a few minutes when they enter the house if there is churning going on. I am told if the person does not take the dash, that no butter would come on the milk when they would be finished churning.
People put a branch of palm over the cow house door for luck. When a person is calling the hens he says "tioc, tioc, tioc," which means "come, come, come". When a person is finished milking they dip their finger in the milk and makes the sign of the cross on the cows back. It is a custom not to carry anything into a house on your shoulder, and if you do it is said that you would not grow any bigger.
