Marriage Customs
“Unfortunately the custom of match-making is dying out.”
Unfortunately the custom of match-making is dying out. The man who intended to marry would go to the house of the girl and ask her from her Father and Mother. If both consented there would be a day fixed for the marriage and all the friends would be invited. There would be a great wedding held, and there would be all sorts of eating and drinking, dancing and singing. Then that night a crowd of boys called "strawboys" would visit the house. They would first call for the bride. Then they would be entertained to what ever would be going.- Bailitheoir
