    take up peddling as a trade. A man or woman generally makes his or her appearance carrying a basket filled with cups and saucers religious pictures, statues, bead's, boot laces, strainers and brushes. They seem to be anxious to supply you with all your necessities before they leave. This section gathers up horse-hair and pieces of metal and sometimes rags and carries them off. They are always glad to hear of some old horse or ass that some man might be glad to get rid of. That poor animal gets the plant in style; he soon wakes up and gets a lively whit under him. All those classes of people live in themselves. The local people around never notice them unless they get into mischief then they have to be checked in a civil manner.
