    People had to eat three spoonfuls of Indian meal every dary and eat raw turnips and drink buttermilk. They had to dig lee land for three halfpenny a day. They had to break stones and the ganger marked one pound of meat for each man. That had to [do] them for a week.
    I got this story from Patrick Kelly ages 60 years on the 1 December 1931.
