  1. Old town house is situated two miles from the village of Ardagh. Protestants lived in it for generations. It was then owned by a Catholic family. It is said that the hall gate can never be closed at night. My Uncle heard the yard man say that he would close the hall gate and it would be opened in the morning. It was said that a coach used to pass the hall door every night at 12 o'clock. At 12 o'clock the servants would hear loud knocks at the hall door.
