  1. Once upon a time there was an old woman that lived in a nice neat little house with her nephew. This old woman was very rich. She had a little bag tied round her waist and in it was three hundred pounds. She never spent any of this money because she had other money besides this. The old woman always kept the big sum of money tied round her waist. She often said "I think the money is safer in mo pióta than anywhere. This little house the old woman lived in was situated far in the fields, away from this house another little house was situated. In this house lived an old man who was an awful drunkard. He had employed with him a young man to do the work. This old man never went to mass or the sacraments. He was always drunk. The same boreen led up to the two houses. One evening the old woman was coming from shopping. As she turned up the boreen a hand gripped her and held her tight. She struggled and screamed but all to no use. The hands of a man pulled the little bag which the money was in and escaped away with it. After that the old woman was nearly mad.
