There was a fortress on the Roscommon side of the Shannon owned by the King of Connaught.
The present road that leads to the famous Rathcline Castle and to Longford on the other hand did not go through Lanesborough. It joined the Longford road near our school.
There was once a road that cut through the back of the Gardens in Lanesboro and the present cemetery near our home. - I live in the townsland of Barnacor in the parish of Rathcline and in the County of Longford.
