It is said that the well at present is not in its original spot, but about five yards from it; because of a woman who washed clothes in it, and allowed the dirty water to flow into it.
The above is the story of it by the people in this quarter. - I boarded and lodged with George and Mrs Savage Gurteenorna, Longford, for five years.
On one occasion we were invited to a spree in Charles Dugnan's, Kiltybegs, Longford.
Mrs Savage urged George and myself to go to it, but she preferred to stay at home.
She asked us to be home at 12 o'clock p.m. but it was 1.30 o'clock a.m. before we reached home, and we found Mrs Savage in a very poor state which resulted from a fright she had got shortly before we arrived.
