- I heard this story from Henery Gregg, Garrowhill, Longford, as follows:-
In a certain district there was a fort in a big field. The farmer who owned the field set potatoes in it. When the potatoes had finished growing they were better than any of his neighbours had.
One day six men went to help the farmer dig his potatoes. They had not been digging long when out from the fort came six women who started to pick the potatoes after the men.
When they had all the potatoes picked they ran back to the fort carrying the potatoes with them.
The six men ran into the house and told the farmer the story. The farmer went out to the field, but when he looked at the ridges the potatoes were there as if they had never been touched.- Collector
