  2. Since the time of the above story I passed the Ghost Hole not less than fifty times late at night; and I noticed that whenever I stopped there to listen I almost always heard something strange; but whenever I went on, about my business, I heard or saw nothing.
    I remember distinctly stopping on two occasions to look and listen; and on one of those occasions I heard the prancing of a horse as if he were fighting with another one in the corner of the field at the above-mentioned famous spot.
    I was not frightened by it and I peered through
