Old Crafts
20th January, 1938 Long ago the people used to make their living on making candles, nails, baskets and creels. In every house then the people used to make their supply of candles.
The first thing they would do was to gather good rushes and dry them; then they would dip them in grease, and hang them up in little bundles in a cool place to dry. When they were dry, they were burned in a long iron stand headed like a pincers, and left standing on the floor.- Collector
