    When I lay down my head to rest,
    I give my soul to God to keep,
    If any evil spirits come to me,
    O Blessed Jesus waken me.
    On wakening in the morning the following prayer was said:-
    "Dear Lord I thank you for bringing me safe from the dangers of the night;
    dear Lord bring me safe through the dangers of the day.
    Obtained from Mr John Gorman (45) Congress Terrace, Granard, Co. Longford.
    When people are sick they say:-
    "St Philomena preserve me from all sickness
