    hills many of which show the remains of oak forests. When the hunted priest was saying mass sentinels kept guard and from the tops of this hills sounded the warning approach of the "Priest Hunters". The land around the immediate vicintiy of the "Altar" being rocky and scrubby a hasty descent by an approaching foe was impossible.
    A former owner of those lands "Patt Shea" emigrated to Manitoba in the year 1875 and was still alive in the Summer of 1900. A letter reached my father's house in June of that year from this venerable patriarch. Surprise was expressed by many of the then older generation that he was still alive for he was by that time well passed the allotted Span. It was the request - quaint, odd strange and fanciful to my youthful imagination - contained therein that left an indelible impression on my memory.
    "Get one of your boys to scrape the fragments from the track of St Martin's Foot and send it to me at your earliest convenience. I have had a long attack of rheumatism and I have great belief in St Martin's track."
    To me at that time rheumatism and St Martin's track conveyed no meaning. My curiosity on the former was allayed as we passed
