Mr Woods of Cullyvore, Edgeworthstown told me there is a fort on his land...

Mr Woods of Cullyvore, Edgeworthstown, told me there is a fort on his land where the ruins of an old abbey stand, it is the remains of an old church the grave- yard is still there.
The tombs stones are to be seen but because of the age they are it is impossible to read inscriptions.
The small trees that were planted then are now ancient.
According to superstition it would be considered unlucky for any person that would cut these.
Leading from this grave - yard is a path to a well this path is called "The Devil's Track" and at the end of the path is a well and it is called "St Barry's Well".
The children around this district fear to go to this track at night lest they might see an evil spirit.
