It is still the custom in my parish of Kilpipe to "blow" people who are about to be married. The young men of the district to get horns made out of bottles which make a wailing sound, and when dusk falls they go out in a body and blow near the bride-elect or the bridegroom's house for several bight's previous to the wedding. It is not complimentry to a pair to be "blown" but otherwise - and it is often done if the bride is elderly or unpopular.Eggs.
