That was how she lived but she had no house of her own and she kept two large dogs to guard her. She was never interfered with.In Croghan village near Wicklow Gap in the time of the land troubles, there were many evictions. The people fought for their homes and the neighbours used to help in the fight.
The landlords were Brook and de Vesi and the people made up a rhyme which went like this -
"From Croghan to Portchester lower,
