Church Road, Bunclody - 10. "Kenny's Turnhole"About the year 1798 there was a Yeoman's barracks in Bunclody where there is at present a laundry and there was a Sergeant called Kenny, and about a quarter of a mile from the barrack's along the bank of the river Slaney, Sergeant Kenny was riding on his horse. He saw coming toward him a troop of Irish soldiers; he plunged into the river where there was a hole; both man and horse were drowned. Ever since it has been called "Kenny's Turnhole"
