    Local Cures
    1. To stop bleeding from a cut cobwebs were placed on affected part. Cow dung was also placed on cut. The leaves of the lily.
    2. Sore Eyes-Cold black tea was applied to eyes at night and morning.
    3.Warts were removed by applying
    "juice"of dandelion. Also by
    washing hands in "forge"water
    i.e. water in which irons were cooled. Also as many stones as
    warts were placed in a bag and left on roadside.
    4."Sorethroat". Hot salt was placed in a stocking and tied under throat.
    5. A sty on the eye was to be prodded with the thorn of a gooseberry tree for nine consecutive days.
    6. "Whooping Cough". This was supposed to be cured by putting a piece of bread in the mouth of an ass and taking it out and then to eat it. Also the child passed in and out under a she ass that never had a foal.
    7. A whitlow . A raw onion was applied. It was also to be kept in water of boiled potatoes-as long as patient could bear it there.
    8. Rheumatism. Goose grease rubbed to joints
    9. Jaundice. Bartary bark. boild in water-drained and water drank.
