Kilpierce means Pearse's Church.
In a field on my farm there was a chapel a great many years ago and this field is known to the present day as the Chapel Field.
Kilpierce is the English version of the townland. It should be spelt Kilpearse to conform with the name of the Irish saint Mc Pearse.
This saint is supposed to have come from Co. Kerry. The field on which the Chapel stood can be pointed out to this day and some years ago when it was being ploughed part of the stones used in the foundation were found.
Near my home is the townland of Kilcotty. There is a Church of Ireland there now but in years gone by there was a Catholic Church thereMary Kelly.
