“In the graveyard at Adamstown there was a Blessed Well years ago.”
In the graveyard at Adamstown there was a Blessed Well years ago. It was called "Tobar Abbain" which means "Abban's Well." One day a woman came and washed clothes in this well and dirtied it. From that onward the well was never seen in the graveyard again. It disappeared to a place called "The Barracks", about half a mile away.
There are medals and bits of beads on a stone over the well as relics.
There are stones in it with spots of blood on them, and these are called "Cloca Fola" or "Blood Stones." There is said to be a cure in them for toothache.- You are not logged in, but you are welcome to contribute a transcription anonymously.
