Tomtits build in walls and stone fences. Swallows build under eaves of houses and sometimes up in the roofs of outhouses.
The Sand Martins build in a hole in the sand something like a rat hole.
The Wren's nest is something like a ball with a very small hole for the bird to enter.
The Blackbirds nest is something the shape of a cup and is plastered with mud inside.
The Magpies build on top of a high tree. They build it with twigs and half roof it with the same material.
If you rob a swallow's nest it is said the cows will milk blood. If swallows fly low it is a sign of bad weather. When a group of wild geese are seen flying to the south it is a sign of a storm.
