  1. The local fair is held in the square and fair green, Clara.
    They are always held in the town.
    Farmers often sell cattle among themselves instead of going to the fair. The fair in Clara was discontinued for a time but the shopkeepers got it started again because they were getting a lot of money from the farmers.
    When cattle are sold luck money is given. They just call it money for luck.
    The spit on their hands and strike each other's hand to show their agreement when the bargain is made.
    When an animal is sold it is marked with mud or the hair is clipped.
    No special fairs are held for sheep, bonhams or horses.
