- It is an old custom especially with the children to hide the “Easter Egg”. On Good Friday a person gets a new laid egg and marks it, sometimes by making a cross on it with soot. Then the egg is hidden and must not be touched until Easter Sunday Morning. Then it will be eaten by the person who hid it.
When putting down eggs to hatch it is considered lucky to put down an uneven number generally thirteen. The woman of the house must always put down the eggs for luck.
Eggs are often put down to hatch on Good Friday.
It is a custom to set eggs on a Friday for luck.
