- (continued from previous page)In the townland there are three old pensioners, their manes are Mrs Kenny, Lumcloon, Cloghan. Mrs Dolan and Mrs. Egan of Lumcloon, Cloghan.
Mrs Kenny tells of a holy well, which Stain Patrick was supposed to have passed, and to have stuck a spike beside the well, the spike grew into a big tree, and if a branch fell off it you could not burn it.
Mrs. Dolan and Mrs. Egan tell of a man who was supposed to have found a Leipreachan and the crock of gold. The man stuck down a small stick beside the Leipreachan and the crock of gold, the way he would know where to find it when he came back.
When he returned there were about a thousand sticks altogether where the Leipreachan was, the man could not find the crock of gold. Nowadays there is what we call the "scrub", because there is nothing drowning there to-day but a lot of small trees.
