- (continued from previous page)is given to the buyer to lead it home and it is also said that it is lucky to give it with the animal. In some fairs there are people selling halters and ropes to lead home the animals. The great fair of the year in Tinahely is the big horse fair on the eight of May. There are always a great deal of horses and people at it. There is a special fair for sheep and every two months in Tinahely in a big yard of Mr. Walshe's. The best sheep are picked out from the bad ones and the good ones are sold. There are always a great many people at it.
- There was a house in Ballyrahan where buyers used to come to buy animals about 56 years ago. Then man's name that owned the house was Murphy. He had a big farm, and he had a great deal of animals. The buyers used to come to the house every month and buy the animals. The buyers used always go to the house a few days before the fair.
