    did - sure they left in their boats and joined the Irishmen at Courtown and then when they got somewehere near the Kilmichael station (coast-guard) the army divided and the Arklow men came over the rock and would have surrounded the English soldiers but at that moment other soldiers came from "Shelton Abbey" to help the English soldiers army who were just beaten at that time - bedad I always heard that even then the English soldiers would have been beaten only that Father Murphy "God rest him" was killed just at the corner of the cross roads. The Irish were disheartened and the battle was lost.
