  1. In this district people did not wear boots till they were between sixteen and twenty years of age. Then they wore boots which were made by shoemakers in the locality. More people wore the untanned hide cut out in the shape of the foot on their feet. It is stated that there was a woman in the locality who never wore boots. Water that people washed their feet in was usually thrown at a lone bush as the old people say that the water kept the fairies from doing them any harm.
