    Drumeskey. The people died in great numbers and after the hunger there came a sickness of fever. In the year 1879 and 1880 there was a "pastian" famine of potatoes and oats but it was not as bad as the other one because there was not as many people in the country.

  2. The famine was in Ireland about ninety years ago. The people suffered one hard year of the famine. The blight came in the month of July in about the time the stalks were in blossom. The blight first came in black spots and burned away the stalks. The district at that was thickly populated. When the potato crop failed the people had nothing to live on only half a stone of Parnell's meal for-gain every head in the house. The reason why the blight came so bad on the potatoes was because there was no spraying stuff at that to be put on them. At that there had to be
