  1. There were and still are a lot of cure in this locality especially cures for children. Fore instance a common cure for mumps is to put a donkeys halter on the sufferers head and drive the patient around a pigsty three times.
    For whooping cough a child would be given milk over which a ferret had breathed.
    For thrush in a child's mouth, a son born after the fathers death by breathing on the effected part is supposed to cure it.
    The again the seventh son is supposed to be able to cure a child suffering from worm's, by rubbing his hands over the child's stomach.
    There are still a lot of people around here who are supposed to have faith in cures such as the cure of the sprain, cure of erysipelas and cancer.
