    the lough I takes out my knife and cut a sally and struck it down where I saw Hugh going down. I pulled on for the shore and tied my cot and started off for the house. I went in and sat down and smoked and says Kate. "Where is Hugh." "He is in the lough", says I to her. "He will be drowned," she says. "I suppose so", says I to her. "You are better go and look about him". she says. "I suppose so," says I to her. So we went out and made a rope at the rick of hay and down goes I to the lough. I got into the cot and sailed out to where I stuck down the sally and says I to Hugh, "Are you there". "I am", says Hugh. "I am going to put down a rope, " says I to him. "Alright", says Hugh. So I put down my rope and says I, "Did you get that,"? "I did", says he. "I am going to pull," says I. "Alright", says he. I pulled up and no Hugh. So I let down the rope
