Song
“Knocktemple I'm going to leave you.”
Knocktemple I'm going to leave you.
The stone Church and school on the hill.
With Hetherton's slopes high above you
Looking down where Lough Ramor sleeps still.
How oft on a Summer's soft evening.
Did I roam where the wold flowers grow.
Through the lakes and the glens of my childhood.
When the grass was all covered with dew.At the ceilidhe the day's work being over.
There were Kitty and Bridie and May.
And Michael and Seamus and others.
Sure they danced till the break of the day.
They sang the bold songs of old Erin.
Of her daughters so pure and so fair.
Her sons full of valour and daring.
And the learning that ever shone there. From friends I am parting tomorrow.
In the big ship that sails o'er the main.
Though my heart may be striken with sorrow.
Yet I'm hopeful to come back again.
When Church bells shall ring out their warning.(continues on next page)- Informant
