- (continued from previous page)as the owner does no like to have trespassers on his farm. I know the field in which the fort is. About twenty five years ago fairies were seen in this fort. One of the Mc Ginns interfered with the fort. One day old Mrs. McGinn was baking bread when a wee red woman came into the hose and sat under the table. She started to giggle and laugh at Mrs. McGinn. After a little while the wee woman ran out the door and ran for the fort. It is believed locally that the family has become very peculiar since that event.
- There is a fort in Ballaghanea known as Smith's Fort or "Lios na gCat". It is built round with stones and earth. There is a drain on the outside of it. It is said that a man named Duffy took some of the stones from the fort to build a ditch. Every time he built the ditch it fell. He left the ditch there till the next day. When he went out the next day the stones were back in the fort.
