'Tis sad "The league" can't find its way
Into that holy bower
I growl and grumble passing by
That shrine of pure devotion
For that the "Cause" should ever die
Between me and the ocean.

There was a time the "sagart" bled
For Ireland's salvation
But now he seems to scorn and dread
A legal agitation.
The bark without a pilot led
The storm must overwhelm.
Ah, why forget your martyred dead?
Why, stand not at the helm?

With murmuring sound I rush along
Through fields of grass and tillage
On pebbles bright I dance and play
When passing by the village.
Here at the Corner House I see
Old Ireland's cause protected
The friend of every family
