    Shooting on by lonely Rathlin skins a currach on the sea.
    And it shineth like a snow-flake when the queen is on the lea
    Rests a bird with crests engoldened where the wind-gusts gently stream-
    'Tis the angel-pilot watching the fulfilment of a dream.

    And there sit within vessel, with their faces to the land,
    Long white beards and eyes of beauty looking back- a silent hand;
    From the green hills of their country, fairy streams and mountains gray,
    On the service of their master they are voyaging away.

    'Farewell' - farewell to Eire - Land, They will be done on earth,"
    Sang they to the shining hillow with celestial voice of mirth;
    But their brows grow white as marble and a sadness filled their song.
