I went to Bailieborough
To a place they call the stand
And for six long months I lived
With Brady of Killann(2)
You have roads to make and stones to break
To mix and scatter lime
And now you are good servant and do the best you can
For I greatly fear I won't be here said Brady of Killann.(3)
I went to him next morning as you may plainly see
He gave me eggs and bacon and then shook hands with me

I was called into my breakfast
But nothing scarce could see
Only a pack of hungry children
