- The cure of the wild-fire was effected by rubbing a gold piece (sovereign) on the part affected and by saying some prayer.
- The disease which may result from the bite of a mad dog is prevented by rubbing a red hot iron to the part bitten.
- To cure the whooping cough get a piece of Blessed Thistle. Boil it in water for some time and then boil it in milk for some time. This concoction when drank is a splendid cure.
- To cure warts get a stone with a hole in it in which there is water. Dip the water in it for ten mornings and on the eleventh morning the wart will be gone.
