Informant got this story from his grandmother Mary Mac Garry of Drumlum in the parish of Drumgoon. - Owen Roe trained his troops for the battle of Benburb at Blacklion Co Cavan. Owen Roe danced at a great hall held near Cavan on the eve of St. Swithen's Day which was the day before he died. He was given a pair of poisoned dancing shoes and there was another a great lady danced with whom Owen Roe danced. She kept him dancing till the poison worked into his system, with the result that he died the following.(continues on next page)
