the sound of horses hoofs in the distance and great cheering and shouting; what came into sight round the turn but a wedding party! The men riding on the horse-back and the women pillion riding behind them, as was the custom in those early days. After the ceremony in their place of worship, they used to rave against each other to the home of the bride where the winner was awarded with a bottle of whiskey. "Johnny Fatty" was so frightened that when he heard and saw the party coming he jumped to his feet and ran home to his mother and was able to walk ever after that.
